Track the discount codes you give out, and what each one really costs

The problem We hand out codes to partners, podcasts and early customers, and can’t tell which ones bring customers who stay, or what the discounts really cost us.

Your agent can record each discount code or offer you give out: what it takes off, for how long, who it is credited to (a partner, a podcast, a campaign) and why you gave it, to win a customer, keep one or make good on a problem. When your agent records a customer’s contract with a code, the contract carries the discount and the code. The customer is invoiced the discounted price, and your books show the full price as revenue with the discount beside it, month by month as the revenue is earned.

A new concessions report shows, for each code, the customers it won, the discount given, the revenue earned, what you paid the partner, the real cost per customer and how many still pay after the discount ended. Customer acquisition cost shows that real cost beside your sales and marketing spend, and recurring revenue counts what customers pay now, so a discount ending never shows up as growth.

Reports and metrics

See what your business still owes you

Founder pages compare cash reimbursements with the money the business still owes for personally funded spending, separately for each currency. When the books can identify the open funding claims, the comparison includes their count and the age of the oldest one.

Imported subscriptions aren't invoiced twice

When you or your agent bring in a subscription from before your business joined Economico, the daily schedule no longer invoices its past months again. It invoices only what falls due after the subscription is brought in, however long after signup that is, so the invoices you import from your old books are the only ones for those months. Economico’s own invoices for your plan also arrive in your books by themselves; recording one by hand is refused, so it can never block the real one.

Bills and invoices in other currencies

A bill or invoice in another currency is booked at that day’s exchange rate. When you pay or collect it, the difference between that rate and what the money actually came to is recorded as a realized exchange gain or loss on that bill or invoice. If no rate is on file for a date, your agent asks you for the rate on your bank statement instead of guessing one. Update the skills to economico-skills 1.9.0 (npx skills add economico/cfo-skills, or the economico Claude Code plugin) so your agent knows how.
